Replace the pistol with a wall gun, open doors until you find the red-lit power door, note the violet-lit Ascension room, buy a perk, then pour points into Ascension on one main gun. After every round, draft upgrades that support that gun. Keep a loop route to kite crowds. In the demo, the run caps at round 25, where you can vote for “just one more round.” Official Players Players
The loop, in one line
Survive the round → spend your points → choose your upgrade → repeat. Official Points go on doors, debris clearance, wall guns, Mystery Box spins, perks and Ascension. Every purchase competes with the others, so a plan matters.
Rounds 1–5: get a gun, start opening
- Earn efficiently. Fighting zombies earns your points. Players report that a fast-firing gun aimed at the torso earns a lot of money. Players
- The knife is strong early. Players find it one-hits early zombies, but by round 6+ it needs more than one hit unless you have a melee upgrade. Players
- Buy a wall gun. There is reportedly a wall-buy weapon in every room. Players
- Open toward unexplored space. Buy doors and clear debris. Official
Rounds 5–12: power, perks, Ascension
- Turn on the power. Follow the red lamp — full walkthrough in How to turn on the power.
- Buy perks from machines scattered across the map. Official
- Start Ascending. Feed your gun to the Gun Ascension altar and choose how it gets stronger — as many times as you can afford. Official
- Draft with intent. One upgrade after every round. Official Pick upgrades that stack on the gun you’re Ascending.
Rounds 12–25: specials and crowd control
From early rounds some zombies chase you, some cut you off and some go around. Later the Juggernaut, Lope and Skitter join in — the Skitter comes across the ceiling. Official See Enemies.
- Shoot legs to slow threats. Leg shots make zombies crawl. Official
- Look up. Skitters arrive from the ceiling.
- Use penetration. Big guns punch holes straight through bodies. Official Line crowds up in corridors.
- Keep a loop. A courtyard or a ring of rooms you can circle beats standing in a dead end.

FAQ
Is Mortuus hard for beginners?
It follows familiar round-based zombies rules, so the loop is easy to pick up. The challenge is the random map: you have to find power and key rooms fresh every run.
What should I buy first in Mortuus?
A wall gun to replace the pistol, then doors toward unexplored space until you find the power. Perks and Gun Ascension come after you have a stable route.
Can you play Mortuus solo?
Yes. Mortuus supports single-player as well as online co-op for up to 4 players.
